IBO Player setup guide
IBO Player is the single application BorealTV supports, and it installs on virtually every platform — Android, Fire TV, Windows, macOS, and non-Android smart TVs from Samsung and LG. This guide walks through installation on each one, then through adding your playlist and tidying up the Live TV layout.

Before you begin
You need three things: your BorealTV playlist credentials (sent to you on WhatsApp after ordering), a stable internet connection, and the device you intend to watch on. Plan on 25 Mbps for 4K and 10–15 Mbps for HD. IBO Player uses remote playlist activation, which means your credentials are entered on the IBO Player portal rather than typed into the app on your TV — that is normal and it is covered in step 7.
Important: One authorized device per subscription. If you want to move BorealTV to a different TV or box later, contact support and we transfer the authorization — you do not need a second subscription. Details are on the pricing page.
1. Install IBO Player on Android phones and tablets
- Download the IBO Player installation file from the official IBO Player website, or from the download link in your BorealTV welcome email.
- Android warns you that the file comes from outside the Play Store. This is expected for sideloaded apps. Choose Download anyway.
- Open the downloaded file from your notification shade or Downloads folder.
- Tap Install and wait for the process to complete.
- Open IBO Player. An introductory screen appears the first time explaining what to do next.
- Tap OK. The app loads and is ready for your playlist — jump to the playlist section below.
2. Install IBO Player on Windows
- IBO Player for Windows requires Windows 10 or later, and the installer is 64-bit only.
- Download the Windows installer from the official IBO Player site.
- Windows SmartScreen may block the installer because it was downloaded rather than fetched from the Microsoft Store. Click More info.
- Click Run anyway to continue.
- Click Next through the installer prompts.
- Tick the desktop icon checkbox if you want a shortcut, then click Next.
- Click Install, then Finish to launch IBO Player.
3. Install IBO Player on Amazon Fire TV Stick
- From the Fire TV home screen, move to the magnifier (search) icon and press OK.
- Search for Downloader — this utility lets you side-load apps that are not in the Amazon store. Type "D" and Downloader appears as the first suggestion.
- Select Downloader and start the installation.
- Click Download to complete it.
- When prompted, click Allow to grant Downloader media access.
- Open Downloader, move to the URL field above the yellow Go button and press OK.
- Enter the official Downloader code for the IBO Player Android build: 511693, then press Go.
- Wait while the file downloads. Do not press anything during this step.
- Fire TV will block the install because the file is from outside the Amazon store. Choose Settings.
- Select Install Unknown Apps. If you do not see Developer Options, go to Settings → My Fire TV → About and press OK seven times on the device name to reveal it.
- Toggle Downloader from OFF to ON.
- Return and continue the IBO Player installation with Next and OK.
- Click OK on the first-launch message. The app is ready.
4. Install IBO Player on macOS
- Download the macOS build from the official IBO Player download section.
- Open the downloaded file and drag the IBO Player icon into your Applications folder.
- Open Launchpad and click the IBO Player icon. macOS will refuse to launch it because it came from outside the App Store — this is expected.
- Click the Apple menu → System Settings → Privacy & Security. Scroll down to the security section where IBO Player is listed as blocked.
- Click Open Anyway, then confirm with Open Anyway in the dialog. This choice is permanent — future launches open directly.
- IBO Player is now ready to accept your playlist.
5. Install IBO Player on LG and Samsung smart TVs
- On an LG TV, open the LG Content Store. On Samsung, open the Samsung Apps store — the steps are equivalent.
- Click the magnifier icon in the top right corner to search.
- Type IBO Player.
- Choose the correct app from the results. Similar names appear — select only the entry named exactly "IBO Player".
- Click Install.
- Click Launch to open it. A welcome message appears on first run.
- Continue to the playlist section below to activate your BorealTV line.
6. Add your BorealTV playlist
- IBO Player uses remote playlist activation. You register the device on the IBO Player website, not inside the app. Open the official IBO Player site and click Manage Playlist in the top menu.
- The login form asks for your device MAC Address and Device Key. Both come from the app itself — see the next step.
- On your streaming device, open IBO Player and click the person icon on the main dashboard.
- The Device Info panel at the top left shows your MAC Address and Device Key. Enter both into the login form on the website and sign in.
- You are now in the playlist management area. Click Add Playlist and fill in: Playlist name (anything you like, e.g. BorealTV), Playlist URL (the streaming line from your BorealTV welcome email), and XMLTV EPG URL (leave blank — IBO Player pulls the guide from the playlist by default).
- Optionally tick Protect this playlist to add a PIN.
- Click Save. The IBO Player cloud pushes the credentials to your device within a few seconds. Close and reopen the app and the full grid loads.
7. Fix the messy Live TV layout
- By default IBO Player uses a layout where channel names overflow under the preview window and the EPG looks disorganised. This is a known cosmetic issue with an easy fix.
- From the IBO Player dashboard, click the screen icon next to the Wi-Fi symbol.
- You are now in Live Screen Style. The default is "Malai TV Style" — the messy one. Switch it to Thai and click Save.
- Channel names now have room, the preview window fits properly and the program guide aligns correctly.
- Categories are hidden in this layout by design. Press the left arrow on your remote (or the back gesture on a touch device) to bring the category column back.
8. Favourites and channel search
- From the channel listing, long-press and hold on any channel you want to save.
- Click ADD. A confirmation appears at the bottom and a heart icon shows next to the channel name.
- Your favourites list sits at the top of the category column — open it to see everything you saved.
- To search, open the Live TV overview and use the search function in the bottom left corner.
- IBO Player uses exact-term matching, so type the channel name carefully. A partial name works; a wrong combination will not return results.
9. Movies and series section
- The VOD section is deliberately simple: the default listing is sorted by most recently added by BorealTV.
- Press and hold OK on any title to add it to your favourites folder.
- The palette icon in the top right switches the theme between Modern and Normal.
- The downward arrow sorts by date added, rating or alphabetically.
- The magnifier searches the whole on-demand library.
10. IBO Player licensing
- IBO Player itself is a paid third-party app with a short free evaluation period, after which a one-off licence is required. This is separate from your BorealTV subscription — BorealTV provides the stream, IBODEV provides the player.
- Open the IBO Player website and click Activate Device in the top menu.
- Sign in with your MAC Address and Device Key (from App Info at the bottom of the dashboard).
- Choose Activate Device in the left column, then pick a payment method.
- Accept the terms, choose the licence you want, and click Checkout.
- Complete payment. Your MAC address is activated immediately. Close and reopen the app for the change to take effect.
Troubleshooting
The six problems below account for the vast majority of tickets opened by new subscribers. Most resolve in under two minutes.
Playlist added but no channels appear
Close IBO Player completely and reopen it. The portal pushes credentials over the IBO cloud API and the app only reads them at startup. If it still shows nothing after two restarts, confirm you entered the Device Key from the same device you are watching on.
Buffering on one channel only
A single stuttering channel is almost always a source-side issue rather than your connection. Note the exact channel name and message support — we reroute it, usually within the hour.
Everything buffers in the evening
Run a speed test during the problem window, not at midday. 4K needs about 25 Mbps of real throughput and HD needs 10–15 Mbps, before accounting for other devices in the house.
EPG is empty or wrong
Leave the XMLTV EPG URL field blank in the portal. When it is blank, IBO Player builds the guide from the playlist itself, which is the correct behaviour for BorealTV lines.
Channel names overflow the preview
Switch Live Screen Style from Malai to Thai, as described above. This is cosmetic and takes ten seconds.
App will not open on macOS
Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway next to the IBO Player entry. macOS blocks unsigned apps on first launch only.
